Today marks the release of the next generation from Roland, their successful range of print only solutions, the Roland VersaArt has seen a new facelift and undergone a few improvements to announce the Roland VersaEXPRESS RF-640.

The Roland VersaEXPRESS RF-640 has been kept closely under wraps until today but that hasn't stopped Matt Vinyl Graphics from purchasing the first unit from printMAX.

printMAX are renowned as the UK's most successful Roland authorised dealer and once again have exceeded expectations by selling the first unit before the machine has even been officially launched.

Those with a keen eye will have spotted the RF-640 making an appearance at the recent FESPA event in Munich, however it has not been actively promoted.

Matt Vinyl Graphics, a family run business based in Hull, have been looking for an investment to add to their existing Roland VP-540 due to workload demands.

Matt Vinyl Graphics have been loyal to Roland for the past 15 years, having been in the sign making business for 35 years (starting out with a paintbrush) the successful family business run with the ethos, "if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it". When looking to invest, the owners visited various dealers and manufacturers to see what their options were before making an informed decision. After settling on the Roland VersaArt RE-640 they thought, why not go for the latest and greatest?

The RF-640 offers the same fantastic print quality as the RE but with some great improvements.

The VersaEXPRESS RF-640 certainly lives up to its name, printing at high speeds of up to 48m2 per hour. It incorporates the very latest technology from Roland, including the new Piezo gold print heads, Eco-Sol Max 2 inks and the latest VersaWorks RIP Software. These features have been present on recent product lines such as the VersaCAMM VS-i and SolJet Pro 4 range. However, the RF does have a few surprises up its sleeves.

For the first time ever, remote monitoring and unassisted printing has been completely revolutionised with three simple additions.

Roland have announced a new high-speed take-up unit which will keep up with the new printing speeds, with the heater dryer unit allowing for faster unattended printing than ever before. Tie this in with the release of an App from Roland, which will enable users to remotely monitor the printing process and you have an almost fool proof method of unassisted printing. Roland, going one stage further, have also released a new ink use system, allowing for ink cartridge optimisation. When one ink cartridge is empty it will switch to the next, reserve cartridge, effectively meaning your printer never needs to be switched off. It also happens to use 20% less ink than its predecessor.

Luke Nicholson, Matt Vinyl Graphics, "We’re really looking forward to bringing in the RF-640. Our biggest problem at the moment is that we have too much work for our VP-540, not a bad problem but an issue all the same! We're lucky to have such loyal customers and the RF-640 will allow us to complete more work at a faster rate and also allow us more flexibility in terms of product offering with the added width".

The VersaEXPRESS RF-640 is currently being advertised at £9,999 including the take-up unit as a launch price.
